Why is it important for business leaders to think about inclusive innovation?

Inclusive innovation is important for business leaders as it expands market reach and creates brand value. By understanding diverse customer needs, businesses can explore new revenue streams and come up with innovative solutions to meet the needs of different marginalised groups. Inclusive innovation addresses social inequities, contributing to economic growth and stability. Inclusive innovation is a strategic necessity as it helps businesses adapt to changing demographics and consumer preferences, to be part of a diverse innovative ecosystem that aids in organisational sustainability.

Many business leaders lack the understanding of what is classified as innovation in their sector and what it means to be inclusive when it comes to innovation. Several organisations do have inclusive agenda as part of their strategy and are compliant with existing regulations. But being inclusive in organisational decision making does not necessarily mean that inclusivity is also part of their business process when it comes to product or services.

To assess if the above led to inclusivity define specific metrics e.g., demographic diversity, participation rates, funding distribution and establish benchmarks to compare inclusivity before and after implementation of different strategies using the resources suggested.
